Governor Announces 2008 Trail Grants Print E-mail

HMBA receives $250,000 for mountain bike trails!

Governor Daniels announced on Tuesday, May 20th, the awared of trail grants to 20 different projects across Indiana.

The projects include $250,000 in funding for the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA).  This funding along with $150,000 of in-kind donationa from the mountain biking community will be used to build new multi-use (Hike/Bike) trails at Versailles, O'Bannon Woods and Harmonie State Parks.  In total, over 20 miles of new trail will be built with these projects.

Indy Star: Plans for mountain bike trails take root across Indy area Print E-mail

In a state that has no mountains, an increased interest in mountain biking has two local parks adding bike-specific trails.

Fort Harrison State Park in northeast Indianapolis is set to OK plans for a bike trail as early as this summer, and a bike trail at Southwestway Park, about 10 miles south of downtown, is set to be approved next month.
